Two doctoral candidates receive scholarships !
Gabrielle Chicoine, a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Nursing under the direction of José Côté, has been awarded a $50,000 postdoctoral fellowship from the Keenan Research Centre, St. Michael's Hospital, Unity Health Toronto. During her post-doctoral fellowship in the Knowledge Translation Program, under the supervision of Dr. Sharon Straus, MD, FRCPC, MSc, Gabrielle Chicoine will focus on developing and evaluating interventions that support the sustainability of professional practice changes in front-line palliative care. Ms. Chicoine was one of the six awardees (out of 27 entries) for this funding program.
Billy Vinette’s doctoral project will be funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé for three years [total amount: $90,563], under the supervision of Karine Bilodeau and José Côté. His project aims to develop and assess a digital educational intervention that will train oncology nurses to oversee the safe use of medical cannabis by young adult cancer survivors. Given Mr. Vinette’s outstanding academic record and the quality and originality of his research project, he was ranked third out of 17 applicants in his committee. In addition, the evaluators particularly noted his ability to create a dialogue between science and society, and to engage with various professional and student organizations.
We offer these two doctoral candidates our heartfelt congratulations on their awards!
